General
What exams are we sitting at the end of the year?
There are 3 external examinations; Mechanical systems, Wave systems, and Electrical systems.
How many credits are available in this course?
There is a total of 26 credits available, for a complete list of standards see here.
What formulae will we be given in the exam?
The formula sheets for Mechanical systems, Wave systems, and Electrical systems are linked to on these pages.
I'm having trouble remembering what all the symbols mean!
I've compiled a list of the main symbols used in this course here.
How can I tell if I'm falling behind?
Do you spend the vast majority of your time in class completing the assigned work?
Whenever you are unable to answer a question, do you seek assistance?
Do you do at least 1 hour of homework per week for this class?
When you receive an exam back, do you go back through it and ensure you understand where you went wrong?
If you answered no to any of these, you are likely to be falling behind. Remember, it is easier to keep up than it is to catch up.
Help, I'm falling behind! What do I do?
If you find yourself falling behind you need to do two things:
1. Stop yourself from falling behind
Identify the reason you are falling behind, and fix it. This might mean focusing more in class, increasing the amount of homework you do, or asking more questions in class.
2. Catch up
Find the earliest section in the course notes that you don't understand, and work forwards from there. Read the section's notes and answer its problems until you are satisfied you understand, then move on to the next section. If you run into difficulty, see me for assistance.
Can I see you for tutorials outside of class?
Absolutely, you need only ask.

Optional internal reports
What is a good topic?
I've made a list of suggested topics for 91522 here and 91527 here.
Can I do the same topic that I did for the PHY201 internal report?
This is possible however, you cannot use the same evidence. In other words, the topic may be the same, but the content must be different. Resubmitting the same report with a few paragraphs changed is not acceptable.
Can I do the same topic for both the socio-scientific and application to context internals?
See the answer above.
When are these due?
The first day of term 4.
